For those who are curious about Botox, here is the run down on the Do’s and Don’ts for beginner and experienced Botoxées. Some key information you want to know before going under the needle? Well, there’s plenty to know.
DON’T GO OVERBOARD. More is not always better.Make sure you select an injector who has your best interest at heart, not an ulterior motive for ways to build extra cash. Less is more. More is evil. Being conservative, working with the natural nuances of your skin and keeping everything refreshed as opposed to overdone.
DO BE TRANSPARENT WITH YOUR INJECTOR. For your safety, tell your injector:
What medication, supplements, herbs, etc. you are taking
Any allergies you have
Any medical conditions, illnesses, or diseases
Any past medical procedures
If you are pregnant, breast-feeding, or trying to conceive
DON’T HAVE UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS. Botox results can be amazing, but your post-Botox results may not be as perfect as you expect them to be. It also takes approximately 2 weeks to see the optimal effect.
DO STOP TAKING MEDICATION THAT CAN THIN THE BLOOD. A week before you get Botox injections, avoid taking medications and herbal supplements that can thin your blood and increase your risk of bruising.
Aspirin
Ibuprofen (generic or Advil, Motrin, Aleve)
Exedrin
St. John’s Wart
Vitamin E
Fish oil or Omega-3s
Gingko Biloba
Ginseng
DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK QUESTIONS. Make a list of questions you want to ask your injector and bring it with you so you don’t forget. Don’t be afraid to ask questions! It’s better to have answers before than after.
